 History
Behind the scenes of Gladstones the popular city centre Bookshop & Cafe is a Christian Charity seeking to address spiritual and social needs in Liverpool. The Gladstone Trust, one of the oldest Charities in Liverpool, was founded in 1820 by John Gladstone, (father of Liverpool's famous son W.E.Gladstone). Originally known as the Charitable Institution House, it is now popularly referred to as Gladstones in honour of its founder.
